Paladins
Paladins is a free-to-play first-person shooter game developed and published by Hi-Rez Studios. It was officially released in 2018 and is available on various platforms, including Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch. The game incorporates elements of team-based gameplay, objective-oriented matches, and a diverse roster of playable characters.
Gameplay in Paladins focuses on two teams, each consisting of five players, competing against each other in objective-based matches. The objective varies depending on the game mode but commonly includes capturing and defending points on the map, escorting payloads, or completing specific tasks within a time limit.
One of the key features of Paladins is its roster of champions. There are over 40 unique champions available, each with their own playstyle, abilities, and ultimate skills. The champions fall into one of four categories: Front Line (tank), Damage (offense), Support, and Flank (assassin). Players can choose their preferred champion and customize their loadout and playstyle with a card system that allows for further specialization and strategy.
In addition to the card system, Paladins also features an item system where players can purchase in-game items using credits earned during matches. These items provide various bonuses and enhancements to a champion's abilities, allowing players to adapt their playstyle and strategy in response to the evolving match.
Paladins regularly receives updates, introducing new champions, maps, game modes, and balance changes to keep the gameplay fresh and engaging. The game also features a competitive ranked mode for players looking for a more competitive experience, as well as casual modes for casual play.
Paladins supports cross-platform play, allowing players on different platforms to play together. It also features cross-progression, enabling players to carry their progress, unlocked cosmetics, and purchases across platforms.
Similar to other games developed by Hi-Rez Studios, such as Smite, Paladins has an active esports scene. It hosts tournaments and competitive leagues where top teams from around the world compete for prize pools and recognition.
Overall, Paladins offers a mix of fast-paced first-person shooter gameplay, team-based strategy, and a wide range of playable champions. Its free-to-play model and regular updates have contributed to its growing player base and its status as a popular choice among players seeking a competitive multiplayer experience.
